There are beats of the source material that keep viewers who are familiar with the IP recognizable while being shifted into the new settings deftly, making the viewer anticipate how more familiar moments will be translated. The most terrifyingly mean and direct people on this planet are 14 year old children. I was deeply concerned about the aging up of Claudia, but the choice allows for a bit more range and motivation for the character making her likable and terrifying in a fashion unique to young people in that age group. Daniel is much more interesting now, the interview contrasting is very compelling as it gives the characters room for a multifaceted recollection instead of brooding over a life in begrudgingly tolerated with infinite experience. It's tortured but not maudlin, without romanticizing the societal norms of the era. He caps this look off with some high boots that buckle up. Louis is decked out in a black vest over a white button-up.
